It’s 2020. Between the global pandemic, the protests for racial equality, the fires, global warming, and the looming threat of World War Three, I found myself wanting to just record something that was beautiful. Something positive.

I had written a number of songs about Frigga over the years, but for one reason or another, they never made it onto an album. Tapestry dates back to around 2004. Every Tear that Falls was a few years after that. Water was a song I wrote for Black Hat Society that just never got tracked. Hymn to Life was from around 2010- I was in a happy relationship and wanted to write the opposite to my song “Hymn to Death” from the NMFTS sessions. Beloved and America were from early in 2020, before everything exploded. I thought about updating Eric Garner to George Floyd, but decided not to. I don’t want to capitalize on anyones death- I want the deaths to stop. I meant when I sang “if anyone is held back then brother none of us are free.”

And so I’m here on July 4th, 2020 about to release an acoustic solo record that I did just because I wanted to do something beautiful. It’s available for free download. If you enjoy it- donate some money to your favorite charity. I’m fairly partial to Black Lives Matter, the Shriners Childrens Hospitals, and the Theatre of Note.

Try and make some beauty in our world. I know Frigga would like that.
